My favorite book is Pillars of the Earth, by Ken Follett. It was made into an okay mini-series. In fact, I’d optioned it shortly after it came out and tried to make it myself but it was during a dormant period for mini-series when they were ONLY making 4-hour mini’s and Pillars needed at least 8. I did posts recently on 50 chapter books to read to kids and 50 of the best picture books for were fun and those were a hit! So now I thought it would be fun to share some of the best books for YOU! I have lots of favorite gardening books. When you read as much as I do, you have bookshelves full of them. But in order to narrow them down to my favorites, I decided to consider which books I go back to time and again.
I use them for reference year-round for, as you can see, a variety of purposes. Epic Tomatoes. This is another of my top rifled-through garden books. Pages are dog eared and stained, but that’s because I’m always toting it around. I love The Market Gardener for its zone-specific information (Zone 5), and for how organized it is.
You don’t need to be a Zone 5 gardener to use this book, though. This book is written by the co-owner of one of my favorite nurseries, Nichols Garden Nursery (which happens to be just north of me in Albany Oregon), so I knew it would be good. There are always room for containers in a gardener’s life and if you’re short of land, this shows how you can grow edible foods in containers successfully.
